Abstract

This study aims to identify differences in awareness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among Arts and Science undergraduate students in Tamil Nadu, India, while accounting for specific psychological and educational factors, including perception, attitude, and academic achievement. A comprehensive statistical approach is used in this study, including descriptive statistics, t-tests, correlation, regression, and factor analysis. The study further examines the differences in the awareness of AI among Arts and Science students, as well as the interrelationship between students’ attitudes towards AI, their perceptions of AI, and their association with academic achievement. A stratified sampling design was used in this study to collect data from undergraduate students across different colleges in Tamil Nadu, India. Results showed a significant difference in AI awareness between Arts and Science students, with Science students showing higher perception. Regression and correlation results showed that their attitudes and perceptions significantly predict AI literacy among students. Factor analysis was used to identify factors influencing students’ AI awareness. This study found that discipline-inclusive strategies are important for promoting AI literacy among different types of students.
